feedback

I started triathlon 3 years ago, joined a team back then. I realised a few months after that I have a good potential to be good at this sport but needed a more professional and results-oriented team. This is when I found Fawz: A professional, results-oriented and understanding team at the same time. Training is structured, focused and adaptable. The coaches understand what needs to be done to hit your goals. This is all what I’ve ever wanted when it comes to coaching.

My coaching journey with Fawz has been nothing short of phenomenal. I was welcomed to the team with open arms, no question has ever been too small and my training program has been a gradual build taking into consideration my work and family commitments at a pace that has me growing into a stronger, all rounded and more knowledgeable athlete every day. I am grateful for the whole experience and look forward to reaching new athletic heights under careful guidance and support of the coaches.

By 2021, at the age of 56, I was pretty sure my best years of swim, bike, run were behind me. With 22 marathons / ultramarathons; 15 Half Ironman’s and 3 Full Ironman’s done, I was OK with that. In late 2021, I started training with Fawz and it was like stepping into a parallel universe. I went from training randomly with lots of overload and training gaps to follow a structured program that helped me to achieve consistent increases in load and speed. Regular, honest feedback on my performance from Filipe and Lottie has helped me learn and work on my weaknesses.

I have got to train with many young people of varying abilities who all feed off each other to improve performances. A challenging but fun environment is a great place to be. In the last 12 months I have set PB’s in the Olympic and Half Ironman distances and achieved my second fastest half marathon - my previous records had all stood for more than 10 years. At 58, I now believe that there are more things I can achieve in the world of triathlon and I am looking forward to doing those with Fawz.

After joining Fawz Concept in 2021, my performance and experience in triathlon has excelled. Coach Filipe understands the sport extremely well, he understands what it takes to help each athlete to step it up and to perform in their best shape possible for every race. The feedback I receive on a weekly basis is something I don’t take for granted and I always find something useful to take on board to help better my training. The Fawz Concept team is incredible and I am very happy to be with them.

Over the past year, working with Brett and being a part of the Fawz Concept team has transformed my approach to triathlon. Brett’s coaching has helped me achieve multiple personal bests and his ability to tailor training to my work and travel schedule has been incredibly valuable.

What makes this experience even more enriching is the amazing community within the Fawz Concept team. Surrounded by like-minded individuals committed to discipline and excellence, I’ve found an environment that fosters accountability and high standards. This camaraderie and mutual support have been crucial in maintaining my motivation and focus.

Brett’s coaching style is the perfect blend of challenging and supportive, focusing not just on physical training but also on mental resilience. His deep understanding of the sport, adaptability and consistent encouragement have greatly contributed to my growth. I’m excited for the future and confident in the journey ahead with Brett and the Fawz Concept team.

I started with FAWZ in Dubai a year ago. My goal was to swim more efficiently. In that very first session, Lottie helped me correcting a lot: my breathing, my arm position, the drag with my leg, to name a few. I was impressed, so I enrolled for a month of swim camp. It was daunting at first, because some really strong swimmers were in the group, but also some beginners. The sessions are tailored with personal targets: I had objectives adapted to my level and conditions. It was challenging, yes doable. After 3 months of swim camps, I decided to sign up for the full triathlon program. I found the same benefits: tailored objectives, steady progression, and the complete of how to improve performance. For example, how to be aero on the bike, how to use all muscle groups for the run, what cassette to have on my bike, etc. Before FAWZ, my preparation was plagued with injuries, like chronic Achilles pain. My program is adapted to that need with progressive loading, mobility exercises, conditioning. I am now able to train and compete injury free. I swim 45s faster for each 100m, I improved my running pace by 20%, and I improved my FTP on the bike by over 30w. I know feel ready to compete in my first 70.3, hopefully in 2021. Last but not least, I made friends at FAWZ, individuals who like to compete but always support each other. I moved to Japan two months ago and decided to stay with FAWZ. I still follow the programs and continue to see the benefits, I do miss my friends, though. It will always be pleasure to see them on the starting line somewhere, soon.

You are the best coaches I ever worked with. 1) Because your trainings are good. 2) You care about your athletes. 3) You follow up which keeps us under pressure to do trainings. 4) You treat us like family.

I can say with 100% certainty that before joining Fawz swim camps, I never enjoyed a single swim and found other swimming clubs intimidating. However, since joining the camps and swimming with Lottie three times a week, swimming has become my favorite training of the week! I have seen consistent improvement in my swimming thanks to all of the help Lottie has given me on my technique and my overall fitness has improved greatly thanks to her programming. This meant that I was able to see a 7 minute improvement on my 1.9km swim time at Dubai 70.3 this year. The group is incredibly welcoming and supportive of one another and I have made some great friends along the way. Even though I am taking a break from triathlon and focusing on running, I have made sure to keep Fawz swim camp in my program twice a week as it undoubtedly supports my run fitness.

Thank you Filipe and Lottie for all the hard work you’ve put in this past year, with creating such a successful brand and delivering training methodology to an incredibly high standard which allowed me to reach my goal of qualifying for Worlds.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Lottie and Fawz Concept. Her challenge started with final tweaks before I embarked on my first marathon (3h55), to then helping me through the recovery of an injury, before final training for Dubai 70.3. I could barely swim 50m consistently before training with Lottie and now I can do 1900m! She could not have been more committed to helping me achieve my goals. I managed a time of 5hr35 in my first 70.3 and I could never have done this without her. Having Lottie as my coach has been motivational, helpful and inspiring. It has saved me endless hours of analysing my training and putting together the next weeks plan. It has introduced me to a whole new group of training buddies and I can honestly say I am thoroughly enjoying it.

When back in October I signed up for February’s Ironman, I had never done Triathlon before. I swam max 500m and would merely go on a 4-Km run. Amongst all doubts and questions staffing my head, one prevailed – what was I going to do in the coming 4 months in order to achieve my goal?

The answer came when I decided to put myself in the hands of the FAWZ team and its coach Lottie. A few months later it turned out to be the winning choice as I managed to finish my first Ironmen in just 5 hours 33 min, with a staggering 30-minutes advantage on my best expectations and after just 4 months of training.

Indeed, I was very motivated, but we all are when we decide to embark on a race like Ironman 70.3. Passion and determination must be channelled into targeted and structured training sessions to obtain the best performance without overloads and injuries. The FAWZ team looks after every aspect of training and preparation, from swimming to cycling and running, and they take into account crucial elements such as diet and bike fitting. Every detail counts!

At the end of September, my CSS was a only average  2:40 pace. After 4 months down the swimming pool with the FAWZ swim team, I swam the Ironman distance with great confidence in 1:56. The beauty of training with a closely bond group is the motivation and the stimulus you get from your team mates, the advice and the willingness to do better and better to reduce the gap with the best ones. Lottie made a real difference thanks to targeted and made-to-measure training sessions, boosting our performance and confidence in the water.

Out of the three disciplines, cycling was the only one I knew and only as an amateur. Having got the bike fitting   done by the great Matt Bottrill, I discovered the pleasure of pedalling in the TT position and I came up to perfect speed with cycling along with swimming and running. It was amazing to see how I had never managed to push myself beyond 30km/h during training and to be close to Lottie’s forecast of almost 35km/h on average during the actual Ironman race, a speed I had never achieved and I would have never imagined I could – not so according to my coach! If this experience was like magic to me, for the FAWZ team was just science, that’s why training must be done with professionals.

Running is the last of the three sport disciplines of the Ironman and also my least favourite. I always used to dislike it, but since I have been on a systematic training plan, it’s now growing on me. Running training has left me positively speechless. The preparation was intense but I had always had the necessary energy to cope with the training sessions as well as daily life. This was only possible thanks to targeted training combined with a customised diet. What have I learnt? That you need to train with professionals such as FAWZ if you want to aim for the best, grow as an athlete and avoid injuries.
